Booking & event terms

How reservation, event, and service terms work on Thril, where you see them, and why they differ from venue to venue.

Every time you book or join something on Thril, a set of terms applies, covering things like when you can cancel and how refunds work. These terms are set by the venue, not by Thril, so they can differ from one place (and even one court) to the next. This page explains how to read them.

The single most important thing to know: you always see the terms that apply before you pay, and again afterwards in the details of your booking. If anything is unclear, the venue is the best place to ask.

Where you see the terms

You'll come across the applicable terms in two places:

  • At checkout: before you confirm and pay, Thril shows you the terms for what you're booking. Paying means you accept those terms.
  • In your booking details: open any reservation, event, or service under My activities to see the terms that apply to it.

Because terms are tied to the venue's current settings, always treat the version shown on your specific booking as the one that applies.

Reservation terms (courts & slots)

When you book a court or a slot, the key thing the terms cover is the cancellation deadline, the point up to which you're allowed to cancel.

  • The deadline is set by the venue, and some venues set a different one for individual courts or resources.
  • You'll see the deadline that applies to your booking at checkout and in the reservation details.
  • Some venues don't allow self-service cancellation at all, in which case you'll need to contact the venue directly.

For how cancelling and refunds work in practice, see Cancellations & refunds.

Questions about a specific venue's reservation policy, an exception, or an adjustment to your booking are best directed to the venue itself, since they set and manage these rules.

Event terms (events, courses, classes, tournaments & leagues)

Organized activities work a little differently from court bookings. Depending on how the venue has set things up, you may come across:

  • Immediate payment to join: some events require you to pay right away to secure your place.
  • Binding participation: for some events, once your participation is confirmed it's final, so you can't simply leave. Whether you can cancel at all depends entirely on the venue.
  • Selling your spot: when leaving isn't possible, some venues let you put your spot up for sale instead, listing your place for another player to take. Availability and the exact rules vary by venue.
  • Waitlists: if an event is full, you may be able to join a waitlist and be moved in automatically when a place opens up. See Events & organized activities.

As with reservations, the terms for an event are shown at checkout and on the activity in My activities.

Service booking terms

Some venues offer bookable services (for example private coaching or equipment fitting), where you book a person and a time. These have their own cancellation deadline, shown alongside the service when you book it. See Events & organized activities for how service bookings work.
